Queen Tribute Band 2008
On Friday 17th October 2008, Portishead Rotary Club were proud to present a Rock evening with:
"They Will Rock You" - the Queen Tribute Band had everybody up and dancing at the concert on Friday 17th October at the Gordano School Music Theatre.
The super venue was packed with over 300 concert goers who were entertained to a fabulous evening of music and dancing.
Alan Green, a student from the school began the evening with his delightful singing and piano playing as well as performing two numbers on his guitar. He proved to be a talented musician and warmed up the audience well before "They Will Rock You" thundered onto the stage to blast the audience with all the great numbers from Queen's hey day.

An event first for Portishead Rotary. The committee, despite a number of last minute changes, pulled off an extremely enjoyable event at the Gordano School.

The evening raised a magnificent £1472 for charity, which included £116 from the money raising game 'Heads and Tails'.

The monies raised will be donated at the end of the year to charities; "Children With Leukaemia" and other Rotary local charities
Our thanks go to "They Will Rock You", Alan Green and all those who supported this event.
Supported by:
'The Albion', who provided, staffed and managed the licensed bar at the venue
'Gordano School', who hosted the venue with a great deal of last minute support from newly appointed 'Business Manager', Clare Sanders and her team
The school's technical staff, with support throughout the evening from two ex. school pupils, without whom the sound and lighting would not have been possible
and of course
The security team, from UK Securities, their dogs, (who were fortunately not required), and Rotary members who helped with the set up, organising and clearing up
