The Rotary Club of Portishead continues to support a number of local charities, organisations, groups and Marie Curie Cancer Care.
Marie Curie Cancer Care is one of the UK's largest charities. It was established in 1948 - the same year as the NHS - and marks its 60th anniversary in 2008.
"...Employing more than 2,700 nurses, doctors and other healthcare professionals, we provide care to around 27,000 terminally ill patients in the community and in our hospices this year, along with support for their families."

Our immediate past Club President, Trevor Hounslow, presented cheques for £4,000 to each of his elected charities, namely, BRACE and Children with Leukaemia.
BRACE Alzheimer's Research is a registered charity, established in 1987, which finances research into the diseases and conditions of the elderly - in particular Alzheimer's disease.
Children with Leukaemia is the UK's leading charity dedicated exclusively to fighting Britain's biggest childhood cancer.
For a second year running we continued our support of the Jessie May Trust, helping with a collection at Bristol Airport, in August 2009.
The Jessie May Trust is a Bristol based charity which provides a hospice at home service of nursing care and respite for children with terminal illness.
